LEARNING BY CIRCUS III. – CIRCATIVE
Body in motion = brain in motion
Workshop for teachers with Robert Janč and Cécile Da Costa.
A set of exercises inspired by juggling and other circus techniques that we apply to the learning process. Today’s teachers and educators are at the forefront of transforming society. You are shaping young thinkers, makers and innovators and developing the skills and values that will prepare students for the life challenges of a dynamic 21st century world. To support you in this challenging task, we offer teachers a unique tool in the form of our exercises based on 4 principles:
MOVEMENT, GAME, CIRCUS, CREATIVITY.
Movement
We want to bring movement into learning. We believe that in today’s hyper-technologised society, contact with the body through movement is a key competence for all students. Our exercises can be applied in any subject. Movement stimulates the brain and encourages active engagement in learning. Learning becomes more fun and children learn that knowledge is not just about sitting and listening, but also about discovering the world through their own bodies.
Game
In movement and joy, a deep understanding of the world is born, where learning becomes an adventure. Through play, our future abilities are formed – creativity, collaboration, the courage to think differently. It offers us room for mistakes and growth, questions and answers. Play is a gateway to a deeper understanding of who we are.
Circus
“Children need to take risks, to be seen and to dream.” (Reg Bolton).
Circus is a complex, non-competitive mix of sport and art. Circus is made together by those who are different. Different in ability, skill, physicality. In the circus, all are needed and all have their place.
Creativity
Creativity stimulates curiosity and motivation. It leads to deeper understanding and engagement with the curriculum. Creative processes promote critical thinking and adaptability, which are key skills for success in a rapidly changing world. When students can freely express their ideas and thoughts, their confidence and willingness to take risks increases, leading to richer and more meaningful learning.
