A celebration of Youth, Dance and Music. Baroque Dance from a Contemporary Perspective with Live Music.
Inspired by the eloquence and precision of baroque dance and the spontaneity and vitality of contemporary dance, Andrea Miltnerová has created a vibrant new work for ten young, professional dancers from the Czech Republic and Germany to the expressive and compelling music of the Bohemian Baroque composer Antonín Reichenauer.
The performance was born out of Andrea’s desire to share her passion for and knowledge of baroque dance with a new generation of dancers, and to show both the dancers and the public, that with a contemporary approach it can be as relevant and powerful today as any contemporary dance style.
The piece is conceived as an abstract work, however the dance is an embodiment of the music, which allows the audience to engage their imagination, creating associations and story lines for themselves. The dancers form and reform in unexpected floor patterns with a kaleidoscopic use of space.
The project also presented a wonderful opportunity for cross border cooperation. Young professional dancers from the Czech Republic and Germany were invited to take part, to establish and strengthen cultural and personal ties between regions, whose artistic and economic history have been so closely intertwined over the centuries.
